Why Do I Need a Social Media Agency?

Social Media is fast becoming one of the more integral parts to many companies online marketing strategy.  Many SME companies will look to use Social Media and their first reaction will be to either do it themselves or bring it in-house. The option that many of them should be taking however, is to bring in the expertise of a Social Media Agency.

“I can do Social Media myself”

“I already have a Facebook Account”

Social media should be harnessed by every business looking to expand and grow before it’s too late.  That being said neither should they plough straight ahead without careful consideration.  Social Media is far more than an advertisement opportunity or marketing campaign.  It does not play by the same rules although it can produce the same results.  If you are looking for a quick ROI then your campaign is going to fail before it has even started.

Instead consider Social Media as a beautiful blend of:

1)   Marketing

Social Media can gain you leads.  It can put you directly in front of the consumer before they even know that they need you and plant the seed of desire for your brand.  Then through witty posts and clever content you can water this seed and watch it grow into a sale.  However, these leads will be hard to quantify and even harder to track and at first will not be as regular compared to the more traditional methods.

2)   PR

The PR world is about timing and journalists.  Twitter can be a PR professionals dream and worst nightmare combined.  It provides you with instant access to the journalists, bloggers, reviewers that you want whilst also informing you of their views and likes that you can later use to your advantage.  One should not abuse this however, and instead should build respectful relationships rather than outright selling to them.  The ‘trending’ of certain topics can be a god send if you have a client who deals in design & print and a certain print campaign has just gone viral you can tie in your client with a neat # and have instant exposure.  Twitter however, should be handled with care one bad tweet can damage your brand and haunt your campaign.
